Hello
I had a look in the archive but couldn't see an answer to my problem.
Yesterday I started getting entries like:
Feb 25 09:59:09 localhost sendmail[5750]: i1PFx85J005748: Warning:
program /usr/bin/procmail unsafe: Group writable directory
in my mail.log (See below, this may not have started yesterday)
The system is Mac OS 10.2.8 running procmail -v gives procmail v3.21
2001/06/29
Yesterday I installed the latest Apple security update. This reset
permissions and I issued a
sudo chmod g-w / /Users
as usual to allow sendmail to continue working. This is may what is
causing the problem. I've looked at procmailrc and directories and
can't see the problem.
In my home directory (user usern) I have:
drwxr-xr-x 4 usern staff 136 Feb 25 10:05 Msgs/
inside Msgs
drwxr-xr-x 4 usern staff 136 Feb 25 10:05 .
drwxr-xr-x 53 usern staff 1802 Feb 17 14:41 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 usern staff 647 Feb 4 16:25 IN-testing
-rw------- 1 root staff 603 Feb 25 10:03 VIRUS.old
drw-r--r-- 7 usern staff 238 Feb 24 22:28 Procmail/
inside Procmail
drwxr-xr-x 7 usern staff 238 Feb 24 22:28 .
drwxr-xr-x 53 usern staff 1802 Feb 17 14:41 ..
-rw------- 1 usern staff 80008 Feb 25 10:10 pmlog
-rw------- 1 usern staff 5285 Feb 24 22:28 pmlog.old
-rw-r--r-- 1 usern staff 4510 Feb 10 15:32 virussnag.rc
Today I was able to get mailstat to work with a chmod 755 Procmail to
give
drwxr-xr-x 7 usern staff 238 Feb 25 10:15 Procmail/
procmail seems to be working now as well as virussnag as I was able to
remove a message containing a test file.
I am using procmail globally with
[/private/etc] usern% ls -al pr*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1786 Feb 4 19:31 procmailrc
Also,
[ma1:~] usern% ls -l /usr/bin/procmail
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 83112 Sep 23 09:21 /usr/bin/procmail
Any thoughts? Thanks
David Bourne
