Please can you stop HIJACKING E-Mail-Threads?
Some people are apparently unable to compose a message to a list and
key in the address, so they've got to take another message, reply to
it (so they can get the list address in the To: field), then
overwrite the subject and (hopefully) erase the body so they can
compose a new message, without regard to the fact that doing this
sets additional headers in the message which relate it to a thread
which it has nothing to do with.
On second thought, that just sounds plain silly.
I've actually done this before and got railed about it. But is sounds
like email clients should default to clearing those extra thread
headers whenever a users modifies a subject line. Maybe a good
suggestion for Thunderbird...
Certainly not default, just change the Subject to the format that
Son-of-1036 suggests:
Subject: New subject (was: Old subject)
I would like to be able to easily shift more Message-Ids into the
References, to show that a reply is on more than one message at the same
time:
in your email-client, select one or more messages from the listview, and
start a reply.
