So is it your pobox.com email address that has the spam problem, or
some other one?  Which way does the forwarding go?

One thing you might look at is Google Apps for Your Domain.  You can
set up an email account that gets all the spam-filtering benefits of
gmail while accepting mail for the domain that you specify, and from
there you can either have it forwarded or download it with POP (I
forget whether there are other options).  The main thing you need is
enough control over your domain's DNS to be able to point your MX
records at google's servers.
