They should remain in the queue, for another delivery attempt - which
will encounter the same recipe (presumably, you have some mechanism to
remove the trigger file). What is the purpose of this anyway?
I have to vacum a database of 17 GByte which take arround 30-60 minutes.
In this time I have to delay the processing for messages. The accound
receive per day arround 170.000 messages and I have more then 8 million
database operations a day. Maybe I will swith to 4 vacums per day
instaed of one and it could be faster but currently I do not know.
Surely your MTA has a method of checking the queue status?
Hmmm, 'mailq' for checking the status and
courier clear
courier flush
to clear the flags and flush the queue immediately but this has to be
done as root and the process which create/remove the flag-file does run
only as an unprivileged user.
It is alredy shit to run additional jobs (vacum) as root which I do not
realy like on this server because it is 100% exposed to the internet.
Also I am runing already a striped down version of Debian (EmDebian lik)
to reduce the time required for md5sum checks, rkhunter and other
intrusion detection systems...
Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening
