_root_ can create files at will within the /var/spool/mail dir - joe user
shouldn't be able to. Thus your problem in trying to create various files
in there after dropping privileges.
i had to modify procmail rule to point to the mailbox by using fullpath
instead of
junk
/var/spool/mail/junk
Well, one needs to consider the current working directory when delivering
to a relative path.
