Independant Implementation & some problems

2003-11-13 09:33:30

Hi,

I have an (fairly alpha) spf implementation written in C using lex/yacc to
parse spf records.

It currently does a, mx, shorthands, ip4 and ip6. I've been out of the loop
for the last week or so as i've just moved and i don't have a phone line in
the new place.

(Currently in a Cafe that has Wi-Fi access, i don't have as much time as i'd
like to compise this email).

I'll check the latest draft and update the code, i want to get the code out
under anon cvs, but thats pointless if i can't use it myself!

Also:

There is a problem with mx/mask and a/mask mechanisims. If the client is
connecting over IPv6 then do you or don't you use the mask?

It's fairly understandarbly for someone to specify a/48 to allow all clients
in the ipv6 subnet that's also shared with the host(s) that have a records
for the domain, but what do you do with a/32? or a/24? both are valid for v6
and v4, but allow wildy different number of hosts.

Sugestion: ditch a/mask and mx/mask, ip4: and ip6: do al that is needed and
have no side effects or ambiguaty associated with them.

P.S. If there is anyone in London/UK who can spare some net access for me to
work at for the next week or so i'd be gratefull, and it would save shelling
out for $beverage every 1/2 hour :)
