Uh... one of the guy's questions was "Where are the archives?"

Marc answered it as succinctly and completely as possible. I wouldn't call 
that rude *or* unhelpful.

But it *was* confusing because of the top posting[1].  I read the
message and the followup the same way as Chuck did.  Only after
Chuck's apology for the misunderstanding did I go back and search
through the original to find the particular part of the message which
was relevant.  If the "where are the list archives" question was
quoted and responded to in conversational quoting style then the
misunderstanding would have been avoided.
