RE: OT: Spam traps

Such mails should never go to spam trap addresses. By
definition, no legitimate mails whatsoever should ever go to
spam trap addresses. That's why spam traps are so effective.

OK say I want to cause moveon.org or elect-bush-2004.com to
be blacklisted.

Funny you should mention getting moveon.org blacklisted... It was
done several times via spamcop's DNSBL and such. (It was actually the
first I had heard of the organization.)

Anyway, this is by no means a theoretical-only problem.

Absolutely not, the issue is currently somewhat partisan since the Internet
is a major factor in the Democrat campaigns but nowhere near as central for
the GOP. But nobody expects this to last, the 2008 campaign will start and
end in cyberspace for both parties.

Dirty tricks in this area go back to the 1992 race when an NRA supporter
sent out a bogus press release claiming to come from the Clinton-Gore '92
Internet campaign. That is how I got into the security area, and later on
the Whitehouse web site came out of it all.
