Why not just resurrect source routing notation for the return-path when
forwarding mail:
Source routing was obsoleted in RFC2821. Modern MTAs SHOULD NOT
utilize source routes and SHOULD ignore them, skipping to the final
destination.
Besides, you would still need some sort of cookie to prevent open
relaying.
