Here are some stats on the number of lookups on the
trusted-forwarder.org DNSWL. They are from just one of half dozen
name servers spread across the world, so this isn't complete, but I
suspect that all the T-F nameservers are seeing similar growth rates.

So, it appears that January was actually a slow growth month, but
things have really taken off so far this month.
