Quick question for the list (related to Zan's post about FreeDNS now
supporting TXT records). Currently, I use register.com as both my

Anyone have an additional suggestions of who can manage my SOA DNS needs

I no longer use register.com myself. I became unhappy with their service, for reasons unrelated to TXT records.

My new favorite registrar is "godaddy.com". They are also quite responsive to spam complaints (meaning that they will terminate a DNS name if shown to be used by spammers) so that just added one more reason for me to want to support them. However, I don't know if they support adding TXT records... hmmm.
