In spite of its name and in spite of RFC2821's reference to "source
address", Mail-From identifies an address to receive bounces and says
nothing at all about the sender.
JK> Not confused, thanks Dave. Unless your point is that 2821 is actually wrong
JK> on this issue?
RFC2821 essentially says two things about mail-from. One is where the
string comes from, the other is how it is used by a recipient of the
mail-from.
With respect to the derivation of the string, RFC2821 is wrong.
To that end, the name "mail from" is wrong and should, instead, be
something like "bounces to".
