SV: SRS concern

2004-04-14 01:49:10
The only thing I can read from that, given that the rest of the world
has *not* implimented SRS, is that SPF is not ready for prime time
yet,

SRS is only needed, if the e-mail address that you forward to,
implements SPF-based spamfiltering.

It will never hurt to publish SPF records, and those who choose to
forward their e-mails, are themselves responsible if they filter away
something incorrectly. If they filter away things because of lack of
SRS, they will probably lose a lot of e-mails and therefore quickly find
out that something is wrong.

Many forwarding systems also work differently: One mailserver receives
internet e-mail and forwards it to one or more internal mailservers. In
that case, you would put the SPF handling on the first mailserver, that
handles incoming internet e-mails, and not on the mailservers that you
forward to.
