This is patently false. You just skimmed that headline on Slashdot,
didn't you?

Microsoft is using IronPort's bonded sender program. A company puts up a
cash bond with IronPort saying "I will not spam". The amount is set by
IronPort based on past behavior, reputation, etc. If the sender spams,
the bond money is forfeited *to IronPort*. No money goes to Microsoft at
all. You cannot "pay to spam".

Microsoft is whitelisting those bonded senders in Hotmail, presumably
because MS thinks there should be an option in place for responisble
email marketers, newsletter providers, and organizations that want to be
sure every message gets through. (I do not necessarily agree with this
model, but Hotmail is MS's turf, so they can do what they want).

As they say on slashdot: RTFA before you post.

Never read about this on slashdot anyway. The point stands: microsoft
in, me out. And the people i've spoken too lately on this subject seem
to share this sentiment.

Listen, I don't care if you agree or not or that you think i don't read
slashdot articles thorougly. I'm simply stating my opinion
on this matter. I thought spf was great and simple and effective and
easy to use. Turns out microsoft gets involved, which in all likelihood
will turn all this into one big commercial circus.

I know I'm not a big company, only middle-sized and locally operating. I
also know microsoft tries anything to destroy companies like my own. So
please try to understand my end of things. Microsoft is The Enemy for
me. Microsoft is doing all it can with it's big lawyers to make it
impossible for me to run a business. It threatens with law suits, it
bribes politicians to vote (against prior democratic concensus) on
proposals that increase their power (i'm speaking of europe here, no
doubt it's no different in the us). I'm not going to help them destroy
me by getting into their shady proposals. Period.

Thank you.
