You can't have it both ways. Do we include things besides the MTA, or do
we not? Autoresponder is part of many (most?) distros and with qmail,

None of *my* qmail installations have ever had it. I won't try to
extrapolate my personal experience into any sort of statistical
trend, though.
I stand by my assertion... if you're going to include the rest of
Windows in an evaluation of Microsoft MTA security, you have to include
the "rest of the distro" when evaluating sendmail, qmail, postfix,
whatever.
Fine. Take the latest OpenBSD CD-ROM set for i386, do an install of
the OS, then install any of the four major Unix MTAs (it already comes
with sendmail). I'll even let you turn on BIND and httpd on the same box.
Now compare.
