I don't get it.
the SPF for businessweek.com says:
v=spf1 mx include:mcgraw-hill.com -all
mx says:
corp148mr4.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.18.181
corp148mr3.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.18.165
corp55wmr3.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.19.154
including the mcgraw-hill records:
v=spf1 ip4:66.54.164.0/24 ip4:64.94.160.128/26 mx ptr -all
mx says:
mcgraw-hill.com MX preference = 30, mail exchanger =
corp148mr4.mcgraw-hill.com
mcgraw-hill.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger =
corp148mr3.mcgraw-hill.com
mcgraw-hill.com MX preference = 20, mail exchanger =
corp55wmr3.mcgraw-hill.com
corp148mr4.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.18.181
corp148mr3.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.18.165
corp55wmr3.mcgraw-hill.com internet address = 198.45.19.154.
So, it's valid to send from 66.54.164.0/24, 64.94.160.128/26, 198.45.18.181,
198.45.18.165 and 198.45.19.154.
Where do you see a rule to allow traffic from 198.45.18.176
(corp148mr3-11.mcgraw-hill.com)? Did the "-11" in the name fool you?
Dan Barker
ps: I'm not sure what the ptr means. I'll look that up.
