Hi !!
Now most providers publish softfail instead fail to avoid problems
with forwarding. One way to detect if a message has not been forwarded
is to check if the envelope recipient is in the To: header field, if
the envelope recipient is in the To: header field then the message has
not been forwarded and if not nothing could be assured. This could be
used to promote a softfail to fail, but there is no way to know if the
domain owner has published a softfail because he don't want to have
problems with forwarding or because he want to allow some users to
break the policy. As i remeber softfail was mainly created to avoid
problems wiht forwarding but is there any other use for it ? should
domain owners use another policies for the other cases ?
