Except that even if the tanker captain was aware of the existance of
the puny boats and decided that he cared enough to try and stop,
chances are there is nothing he could do to stop the massive momentum
from causing the tanker to smash the little boats into a million
pieces on its inexorable course into the harbour.

As someone who has no desire to help implement the burdensome parts of
XPath/XSLT 2.0 until there is clear evidence that it will benefit me and the
end users (the consumers, rather than for the stubborn producers & middlemen,
in this rapidly expanding metaphor), I'd add there might not be anyone but the
ship captain's buddies waiting at the port to pick up the cargo and deliver it
to the shops.
