kind of surprizing considering how much rendering may be
affected by extra spaces which (theorically) should not
change it... behaviour of HTML engines is fragile enough.
Yes - it took a lot of trial and error (and bug reports) before I got
the Saxon indentation algorithm right, so that it never adds spaces in
places where they affect the visible appearance. And earlier today,
someone queried the interaction of indent="yes" and
disable-output-escaping...
