I must admit this encoding stuff is confusing to me. :/
It's confusing to a lot of people. At the W3C Technical Plenary this week we
were presented with T-shirts that had been printed with an AE-diphthong
where there should have been a registered-trademark-symbol.
174 in Unicode is registered-trademark; 174 in MacRoman is AE. Clearly W3C
uses Unicode, but their T-shirt supplier uses Apple Macs.
