I think generateTRs template should be like this..
(i.e. <xsl:value-of select="title" /> and not
<xsl:value-of select="@date" />)

<xsl:template name="generateTRs">
    <xsl:param name="node-set" />
    
    <tr>
      <xsl:for-each select="$node-set">
        <td>
          <xsl:value-of select="title" />
        </td>
      </xsl:for-each> 
      <xsl:call-template name="generateRemainingTDs">
         <xsl:with-param name="n" select="3 -
count($node-set)" />
      </xsl:call-template>
    </tr>  
</xsl:template>

Don't know if this XSL would help.. but just gave a
try..
