I did a bit of digging before I posted the first message to see if I
could find an answer. I'm sure I am not the first person to have a
fairly extensive folder tree structure on the server. Because I am not
well experienced with fetchmail I am not sure if I have checked the
best resources. Perhaps this should be submitted as a feature request.
From the sounds of it, Fetchmail may not be up to the task, at
least by itself, IMVHO.
It is deliberately, from what I have seen of the developer's posts to
this list, a simple but powerful tool, in the sense that it works
simply, but can call on other tools to do more complicated things.
This is what I was referring to when I said:
"Even if there was no indication in the headers to begin with, is there
some way to preconnect with a script and write to the headers on an IMAP
server? I don't think fetchmail or an IMAP server would permit this, but
it would would be an interesting proposition.
What kinds of remote commands are allowable on an IMAP server, besides
listing and retrieval? Hmmmm...."
Perhaps in the fetchmailrc, you could run a script that would define the
folder structure on the server, and write to the headers of the mail
what folder it came from. Again, whether IMAP/Exchange would permit this
is open to question. Ya get me?
