The mail should still be on the remote mail server. As fetchmail
failed to deliver it won't have removed it (unless of course you've
told it that 554 is a spam code).
So is 553 a spam code by default as well? I just got this message while
idling on an IMAP server:
reading message [username(_at_)mailserver]:1 of 1(735 header octets)
fetchmail: SMTP error: 553 5.1.8<erin(_at_)stupidlovelife(_dot_)com>... Domain
of
sender address erin(_at_)stupidlovelife(_dot_)com does not exist flushed
And now that message appears to have completely disappeared - not that I
mind as it was spam, but there's always the possibility it could happen
to legitimate mail too... Also, after receiving this message fetchmail
died, instead of resuming idling on the server.
Cheers,
Adam.
