I've read the FAQ and done a few google searches and haven't found an answer,
but maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
Over the weekend as I did some package upgrades on my server, sendmail decided
it wanted to stop working properly and fetchmail wasn't able to deliver the
mail. Here is the error that was in the fetchmail log.
fetchmail: 1 message for kyrra at iastate.edu (3400 octets).
fetchmail: reading message kyrra(_at_)iastate(_dot_)edu:1 of 1 (3400 octets)
fetchmail:
SMTP error: 554 5.3.0 rewrite: map resolve not found
After I noticed this, I rebooted the server, and noticed Sendmail refused to
start back up. I just did a quick recompile and install of sendmail, and all is
working fine now.
My question is, during the time of sendmail not working I recieved some emails
but they never made it into my mail directory. Is there some temporary location
or something that fetchmail would have stored these emails?
For reference I am using Gentoo with all the latest packages, Sendmail,
Fetchmail 6.2.5, and the mail dir where sendmail puts new mail is in ~/.maildir
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
-James
