OK, my use of the term "sophisticated" was, well, unsophisticated. I'll
grant that. I also agree 100% that the data don't support any
generalizations about the utility of many multimedia features. (Andrew
doesn't make it very easy, really, to include arbitrary images and
audio.)
Nonetheless, I think the main point is still hard to deny: The vast
majority of "multimedia" mail use, at least in the Andrew world, is
stuff that "richmail" can do. If there's a cheap and easy way of making
that kind of functionality widely available, I have to think it is worth

PS -- I checked all my recent outgoing mail, and it appears that about
79% of my messages that use non-text features only do things that
richmail can handle. Just another non-conclusive data point, that's
