My original concern expressed in terms of RTF is now being expressed by
Messrs. Alvestrand and Rosenberg in terms of SGML. Why not borrow syntax

extends its potential.

Richmail offers an alternative to existing markup languages. The syntax of
the RFC permits you to create an SGML subtype if you wish to use SGML
instead of Richmail syntax (ditto for RTF and all the rest). Choosing one
of the existing languages is guaranteed to alienate those who don't
approve of the choice. While I'm doubtful that yet another markup language
is a good thing, Richmail has the virture of being simple by comparison to
other languages. That may make it attractive enough to implementors to
include it. This is why, despite my doubts, I think it should stay in.
