I grant you that:
a) RICHMAIL is a useful facility.
b) Comparing RICHMAIL with CCITT's SFD must take into account the
context.
c) Putting RICHMAIL in this RFC will increase its profile. (This
isn't a comment on support, only wrt increasing RICHMAIL's profile.)
But, *IF* RICHMAIL is to be in RFC XXXX, I think it a mistake to define
yet another syntax.
My original concern expressed in terms of RTF is now being expressed by
Messrs. Alvestrand and Rosenberg in terms of SGML. Why not borrow syntax
from SGML? Whether or not the SGML community defines the application
is not important. The fact that RICHMAIL would be SGML-capable simply
extends its potential.
