Thanks John for confirming my belief that pulling it is the right
thing to do, for the reasons you have cited.    

It just cannot be so critical to get it out there in the main MIME RFC
that it is worth doing it wrong.  Same for Mnemonic.

I am stronly reinforced by the observatio that "If we are stuggling
with these questions at this point, it ain't done yet!"
