Of course, I don't believe that "enriched" should be a text sub-type, either.
Well, then what should it be? If you removed it, all that would remain would
be essentially be text/plain -- and perhaps text/simpletext -- but what would
be the point with it? Using plain text is fine as an alternative body part,
but it would be rather limiting if that's all there was.
I agree with them both :-).
I believe that almost no formatting or encoding information is acceptable
to blat on a user's screen. They whine and moan and complain and in
general make life uncomfortable for the sender if there is anything
"foreign" in the text.
This applies to text/enriched, quoted-printable, etc.
So I think that any text subtype except plain is unsuited for dumping on
the user's screen. If being a "text" subtype means "ok to dump to the
user's screen willy-nilly", then there *should* be no text subtypes except
plain.
