Re: Don't change RFC822 for the worse!

How can a MIME conformant reader can have a chance to know about
unknown MIME charset label of 2022 based encoding (a) that ISO
2022 shifts are going to be used in the message text and maybe even (b)
which flavors of ISO 2022 character set shifts are going to be
used?

How can a 822 conformant reader can have a chance to know about
unknown 822 charset label(*) of 2022 based encoding (a) that ISO
2022 shifts are going to be used in the message text and maybe even (b)
which flavors of ISO 2022 character set shifts are going to be
used?

Thus, on this issue, MIME with charset is just as bad as 822 without
charset.

Whatever scheme 822 uses, MIME can use that as well. And as you keep
pointing out, Masataka, it works very well. Therefor, it's not a problem
for MIME either.

Have I ever said MIME charset mechanism should be modified or removed?
I never.

The problem is that neither 822 nor MIME addresses the issue of I18N.
