Completely impractical. I have to send a message to myself (or save it to
the Drafts folder) and then forward the resulting message, which destroys
secondary context such as threading, unless of course I have a tool that
does all of this on my behalf.
Exactly, you could have a tool which does all that. The message formatting
supports what you want.
If header signatures & encryption was that important to people, someone
would have written an MUA to support it using the existing infrastructure.
Modifying the message format won't force people to write an MUA to support
these things, it'll still need someone to produce the MUA software to
encrypt the message and put it into your message format for you.
