I took the word "used" to mean "used on the Internet, in sufficient
quantity to demonstrate global utility."
We are, after all, discussing use on the global Internet.
It seems unlikely that anyone is going to seriously suggest uucp or
fido. (I don't recall the details of fido, for email, but uucp is too
creaky to even discuss for modern usage.
LMTP is simply SMTP on a different port.
