Those addresses are also used because you can't simply block email from
aol.com..not unless you want tech support costs rising directly proportional
to customer attrition.

In addition, spammers can spam those internal networks with their own
addresses because of non-standard mailing list implementations.

The FROM address is being choosen to maximize the probability
the email is opened.

People trust what they know. They know AOL, Hotmail, yahoo.
It would be interesting to see whether the YAH addresses
decline over the next few months as they step up enforcement
on the legal front.
