Slightly lower administrative costs, perhaps. Possibly better
ability to transit mailing lists.
The drawback is you can't delegate authority like you can in LMAP.
You can't use permit '0/0' like you can in LMAP.
The benefit is that admins don't have to contact the central DNS
server when outgoing MTA's change IP's. Since in many, many, systems
those outgoing MTA's are also the MX's for a domain, that benefit is
near non-existent.
