Instead of blaming Freeserve, despite these two examples of
boneheadedness, you're blaming MAPS *AND* using this example of what to
not break. That truly makes no sense.
My point was that if you randomly try to send email despite SMTP AUTH
failing (because there's a "transparent" SMTP proxy in the way) you can
expect your email to disappear without a trace because both the message
and the bounce will be rejected. I used Freeserve as an example of similar
problems occuring in the real world.
