One of the issues with DMP was its dual lookup. Early SPF
was designed to
avoid this. However, I was able to show Meng that a dual was
potentially required. So the spec was modified.
Seeing the Resent-From: and SUBMITTER drafts, these could be adapted to early
SPF and even DMP to avoid the dual lookup to allow remailers (forwarders,
mailing lists, etc). The wildcard problems remain in those documents,
however.
The choice of 2822 or 2821 checks plus adding the Resent From / SUBMITTER
specs would do well in any rewrite of the core specs.
