Because today it is possible to have a free and legal
implementation of RSA. But it is not possible to have
a free and legal implementation of ECC.
This discussion about the lack of ECC parameters ran off the rails at about
this point. Paul Lambert suggested he could get some help with the ECC
parameters from some other folks at Certicom. Paul, Jon, has that happened?
If not, in the interest of bringing the discussion to a close, I suggest we
leave ECC aside for the present. We have sufficient room to add
identifiers and parameters for it later.
