Alex,
We probably need a "sticky" [copied] flag meaning "I am going
to have a copy of every byte from now on, until further notice". This
way the callout server can remove itself from the loop earlier.
The same can be achieved by simply setting the [copied] flag in any
outgoing <data-have> message from now on, couldn't it?
This way we wouldn't need yet another flag, and also we wouldn't need
a way to overwrite a "sticky" flag that was previously set (see your
"until further notice" remark above").
