It also, and it is probably relevant, predates Unix, certainly
any general availability of Unix, by some years.
Because some nitpicking is just too easy:
Unix was created in 1969, as was the first Arpanet operation.
But use of CRLF as an Arpanet convention came a bit later. For
example, it is not defined in RFC 20.
