Re: spam

I wrote my first-ever letter to congress yesterday, demanding a law that
protects the property rights of organizations over commercial speech and
allows for private civil enforcement (specifically an extension to the
TCPA). I also promised to help develop email technology which would
address the credibility issues, since that seems to be the popular
complaint against such an approach.

As to the TCPA legislation. I've done tele-marketing for 7 years now. I know
I'm the bad guy. You'd be suprised at the number of people who look forward
to you calling them. I do donations which isn't affected by TCPA, that's
more for calls concerning credit cards and so forth. Kansas is a 'no call
state' which means telemarketers can't call there from inside or outside of
Kansas, and it's not the only state.
A tele-marking group is lobbying against the national do-not call list.
Personally I think if a person doesn't want to be called they have that
right. I have no problem with the Do-not call list. I gladly put people on
the do-not call list when they ask because they don't want to donate to
charitable organizations anyway. Why waste time.

    I have received a few tele-marketing calls myself. I consider them a
minor nusiance. If course I'm not bombarded with them either. I simply hang
up after I listen long enough to see what's being talked about.

    Bill
