  The LINK light on the DSL was on. There was nobody home.

  My ISP happened to call me on a DNS question, and reported that their
generator worked fine. And that things upstream were just fine. In fact, very
fast, since most of the traffic was gone.
  What was dead? The Bell Nexxia ATM network connecting us. I.e. my layer 2. 
  So, we aren't that far away.

  Power-Over-Ethernet would be great... if I could get ethernet to my office.
