I doubt that it can be undone once done. Any attempt to undo will be
decried as an attempt to hide something, move things into smoky back
rooms, &c. That will be especially true if it turns out that
companies who want to put resources into "getting people on the IESG"
(or whatever) are successful: they'll be able to use the same
resources to oppose changes that will undo that advantage.
This isn't to say it's a bad idea (I haven't formed an opinion), but I
do think the move towards publicising these candidacies is a one-way
door.
