That should only be an issue the first time.  And the only thing that I can see 
off-hand with pop3 is if the client is not issuing the server update command 
with is QUIT.  In other words, your device mail app and/or connectivity is 
dropping rather than gracefully closing then session.  The explicitly issued  
QUIT command is the only way the server to know you successful got your mail 
and can begin some backend marking of reception.
