Sending an email from a toster with XML is not a problem, because there
are only very few kinds of mails that will get sent anyway. SSL and
certificates are most probably different, but I guess the toster
could send its mail to your home server machine, and that machine
could do the calculations.

This is a good example of why we should design the system so that
mails without cryptography are possible. But if we use cryptography
for sender verification, then that should be part of the protocl
and of the average system from the start, and switched off just
in special situations like this.
