It sounds as if the problem is with my sending a reply to a thread
without using the Reply command.  The "new message" is part of the
thread and hence it is a reply to one or more messages from that thread.

First principles:  the concept of a cookie is to hand over a literal
that is later handed back.

Please describe the usage sequence for the cookie you have in mind.

Also, why does it need to be confidential and how does this
confidentiality mechainism work in a group discussion environment?
