THEAD/LISTBEGIN Markup

1999-07-07 12:13:32
I've been helping someone in Hong Kong make use of my example resource
files and perl scripts (at http://www.sonic.net/~snevel/mhonarc.html) and
what fun it is trying to debug stuff remotely with only minimal
information on the remote configuration... <g>.

In any event, she (I think it's a she, but I'm not familiar with the
gender typing of Chinese names) has asked me a question....

The normal THEAD/LISTBEGIN markup for index pages with MULTIPG on includes

  $PGLINK(TPREV)$$PGLINK(TNEXT)$

and

  $PGLINK(PREV)$$PGLINK(NEXT)$

For links to the Previous/Next index pages. There are also resources
available for the First/Last index pages.

What my correspondent would like to do is have something like so:

   Page 1 2 3 4 5 6 [.....] N

Where each number is a hyperlink to the appropriate index page.

Is this doable?

I've looked over the resources and resource variables and
didn't see anything to the point. After thinking about it some, it would
probably be a fairly difficult to do as you would have to know (as each
index page was generated) how many pages you would end up with.

I want to make sure I haven't overlooked something in the documentation.

I could probably cobble together a Perl script that would edit each of the
index pages and insert the appropriate html coding, but I'm not gonna try
and to that remotely.
