Well, it made it (at least I got *my* copy). Given this outage and the
apparent loss of messages posted during it, it would seem we should consider
also moving the mailing list to Savannah, assuming they offer this service.
I tried to determine from the Savannah docs if they do offer that, but I
wasn't able to easily tell -- the docs (esp. the User Docs) are pretty
badly-written (obviously by non-native speakers of English).
They offer mailing list management via mailman.
In the Project Admin screen, select the "Edit Public Info" link.
On the Public Info page are set of toggles for enabling/disabling
various services. Enable the one for mailing lists.
Once submitted, you should have a mailing lists entry show up on
the project home page. There should be an admin link from there
for creating and editing mailing lists after you select the Mailing
Lists link.
Lists are archived using pipermail (not my web archiving software of
choice :-), but there is no search facility. You can use a free
service like www.mail-archive.com to provide an alternative archive
that provides searching.
I just hope the quality of the documentation on Savannah doesn't reflect the
overall quality of the site.
The docs are pretty weak, but it does not take too much hacking to
figure things out. The savannah Admin Docs (i.e. not the user docs)
have some useful information, especially about CVS repository stuff.
As for the service, I am currently satisfied. The bug tracking
service can be quite useful and something to consider using for
the nmh project.
