It's worth noting that all of the examples I've seen in RFC 733 and
RFC 822 are in the "modern" form;
Never make the mistake of following the examples. The [A]BNF is always
normative.
I was just trying to point out that even the grammar says that when you want
to have a "display-name", it says to use the modern form. Comments are
supposed to be ignored. That's always been the case. I'm unclear where
the "old" form came from.
