Hm. I defer to your experience benchmarking other MIME parsers, but exactly what you were you thinking of, and how does it differ from what I described?
I'm just concerned about people getting side tracked chasing micro-optimizations. I am all in favour of seeing all of the 822/MIME parsing code re-written. I just don't want to see anyone waste a lot of time trying to optimize the code for things that don't matter.
