Maybe give this a quick try?

repl -filter mhl.replywithoutbody -convertargs text/html '' -convertargs
text/plain '' -editor mhbuild

Just enter it on the command line to start a reply to the current
message.  It's reply, so you can of course specify a different message
to reply to.
